Expression of Interest: Rural Advisory Committee Representatives

The Paroo Shire Council is calling for Expressions of Interest (EOI) from residents of the rural community to join the newly formed Rural Advisory Committee. We are seeking dedicated individuals to provide strategic advice on rural community and infrastructure matters within the Shire. Two representatives from each quadrant of the Paroo Shire will be appointed, ensuring balanced regional representation.

Purpose of the Committee: The Rural Advisory Committee has been established to provide advice to the Council on broad-based rural community issues, particularly in relation to road infrastructure and other rural concerns. This committee will play a key role in identifying region-wide issues and opportunities, advising Council on effective policies, and helping shape service provision within the Paroo Shire.

Role of Committee Members:

Committee members will:

Offer input into the development of Council’s plans and policies. Provide feedback on key infrastructure and community priorities. Discuss specific rural topics and challenges identified by the Council. Participate in ongoing consultation and review of rural-related strategic documents. Attend meetings regularly, contributing actively to discussions and initiatives.

Eligibility:

Applicants should possess knowledge and expertise in the following areas:

Road’s infrastructure and development. Leisure, sporting, and health trends within the rural community. Community capacity building and networking. Working knowledge of the rural environment in the Paroo Shire. Understanding of services provided by local government.

Membership Term:

Members will be appointed for a two-year term, with reappointments to be determined by Council. Councillor and Council Officer representation will also be included on the Committee.

How to Apply:

Expressions of Interest should include:

A brief summary of your background, knowledge, and relevant experience. A statement detailing your motivation for joining the Rural Advisory Committee. Any particular areas of expertise or interest related to the Committee’s objectives.

Submit your EOI to [email protected], no later than COB 25th October 2024. Applications will be assessed on merit, and selected representatives will be notified by 8th November 2024.
