The Southern Tasmania Regional Land Use Strategy (STRLUS) is being reviewed and updated. The STRLUS project team invites you to have your say on the future of land use in Southern Tasmania.

Residents can participate in a collaborative engagement process led by the STRLUS project team. Council will be playing a role in sharing key dates, links for where to find key information and how to get involved.

Regional Land Use Strategies are an important part of the Tasmanian Planning System. They plan up to 25 years ahead and set the direction for how land use change, growth and development in Tasmania’s regions will be managed.

STRLUS key points:

It’s one of three such strategies in Tasmania. It was first created in 2011. Since then, Southern Tasmania has changed: Population has grown Economic, social, and environmental conditions are different There have been changes to planning policy and legislation such as the introduction of the Tasmanian Planning Scheme and the Tasmanian Planning Policies. The twelve local governments of Southern Tasmania are working in conjunction with the Tasmanian Government State Planning Office. They include Brighton, Central Highlands, Clarence, Derwent Valley, Glamorgan Spring-Bay, Glenorchy, Hobart, Huon Valley, Kingborough, Sorell, Southern Midlands and Tasman.
