Earlier today twelve very excited Federation Council residents have embarked on the 2024 Miki City Sister City Exchange program visiting Japan from Tuesday 1 October to Wednesday 9 October.
The 2024 delegation includes six young people from across the Federation Council area, Baxter Donovan, Lachlan McCormick, Imogen Lake, Dayna Carter, Philippa Coghill, and Josie Gooden, who will be accompanied by four adults, Britt McCormick, Adrienne Harnett, Imogen Letchford, Jordyn Pierce, and two chaperones, Narelle Donovan and Georgie Brown.
Over the nine days the delegates itinerary includes exciting experiences such as a visiting the World Heritage listed Himeji Castle, Gayain Temple and a hardware factory tour. They will spend time at a local junior and senior schools, learn how to make sushi and experience a traditional tea ceremony and lots more!
Each delegate will be hosted by a home stay family while in Japan, which will let them gain a deeper understanding of Japanese culture and way of life.
Federation Council has a sister city relationship with Miki City for 27 years which provides residents with the opportunity to visit Japan and experience the culture first hand in a safe and structured way. In the alternate year delegates from Miki City stay with local families and visit local sites in the Federation Council area, which ensures the continuation of the strong relationship and provides us all with the chance to establish new friendships.
During the visit, Federation Council will share images from the exchange program of the students experiences on it’s Facebook social media page. If you are yet to like the page, make sure you do so you don’t miss in sharing the excitement of the visit.
We wish them safe travels and hope they have an amazing time experiencing Japanese culture.
