Earlier this year Council launched the new Event Partnership Fund, to foster, support and expand local events in the Shire, giving visitors more reasons to stop and stay in the Moree Plains and enriching the lives of our residents.
‘Run the Plains’ did just that!
Held over the weekend in Moree, Moree Tourism and Little Athletics joined together to bring a true celebration of community spirit and resilience.
Not even the weather could dampen enthusiasm as people of all ages came together and embraced the opportunity to test their endurance.
Moree Tourism’s Julie Rushby remarked “The event showcased how connected and engaged as a community we are, and we’re excited to keep this momentum going, attracting visitors to our town and encouraging more people to be more active was our primary focus.
The Moree Plains Shire Council Event Partnership Grant was the catalyst for making our idea/event possible. The overwhelming support from the rest of the community through their sponsorship or involvement made this successful event a reality”.
Moree Tourism and Little Athletics were successful in the Event Partnership with $10,000 being allocated for this worthy initiative.
Council will announce when we are seeking applications for the annual ‘Small Business Fund' and ‘Event Partnership Fund’.
