Council is upgrading Shannons Paddock playground and is excited to share the unique heritage-inspired design with the community.
Shannon's Paddock sits at the border of Westmead and Wentworthville. The playground is on Darcy Road near the Briens Road intersection surrounded by shady mature trees.
Stage 1 of the new playground is designed to reference the Shannon’s Brick, Tile and Pottery Factory which operated near the site from 1912-1982. It will include a challenging high ropes course amongst the frames of a replica factory, with slides, swings and a climbing wall incorporated into its design.
The plan includes:
Play facade with climbing wall, timber platform and polished concrete "cool" slide (how cool is that!) An integrated rope and timber pole climbing structure In-ground trampolines, ground-level cubby houses and low ropes course for younger children Large shelter with picnic table and barbecue Two swing structures - one double, one triple with basket swing Rubber and mulch safety surfacing Additional furniture and bench seating Heritage inspired brick and stone balance blocks The playground will sit beneath the canopy of the large mature trees on site which are proposed to be retained as part of the new design. Other amenities such as bins and drinking fountains will also be included as part of the design. How to have your sayDetails of the proposed fee are available on Participate Parramatta.
Submissions are welcome until 5pm on Tuesday 22 October 2024.
