It’s time to start thinking about the people and groups that make a positive difference in our community, as nominations for the Town of Bassendean Community Awards are open. These awards offer an exciting opportunity for the Town to recognise and acknowledge the excellence of individuals, community groups, and businesses who contribute to making Bassendean a vibrant and thriving place to live.

Nominations can be submitted either online or by hard copy. The nomination period will close on 31 January 2025, so there’s plenty of time to consider who in our community deserves to be celebrated.

The awards span several categories, each designed to highlight different aspects of community life:

Community Leadership Award: Recognises groups or individuals who have significantly enhanced community life, driven positive change, and fostered connections and inclusion within Bassendean. Lifetime Contribution to Volunteering: This award honours a senior individual (aged 65+) who has dedicated their life to volunteering, making a profound impact on the Town of Bassendean community. Youth Achievement Award: Celebrates an individual aged 12–25 years who has shown outstanding voluntary commitment, served as an exceptional role model, or achieved notable success in the arts, sports, or academics. Best Verge Award: Recognises an outstanding verge garden (or a collection of verge gardens on the same street) within the district, focusing on designs that incorporate edible or native plants, water-wise elements, and safe access. Bassendean Means Business Award: Presented to a business operating within the district that has made a positive impact on the community, demonstrated business agility, provided excellent customer service, or led in environmental sustainability through their practices or community involvement.

The winners will be announced at the 2025 Awards Ceremony, scheduled for May next year. This event will bring together community members to celebrate the remarkable contributions that make Bassendean a special place.
