Toowoomba Regional Council is inviting the Jondaryan community to have a conversation with Councillors about their ideas for the town and surrounding area.
Toowoomba Region Mayor Geoff McDonald said the “Community Conversations” event was aimed at gathering local people’s vision for their town and area.
“Jondaryan has a long and proud history of primary production dating back to the mid-1800s,” Mayor McDonald said.
“While it is home to the nationally recognised Jondaryan Woolshed, there is so much more. Councillors want to hear from residents, property owners and businesses about their ideas for Jondaryan and surrounds,” he said.
“We want to hear their aspirational ideas on ways to shape the development of the town and community.
“This is an opportunity for the community to brainstorm their ideas with Councillors and have a conversation about the future of Jondaryan.”
Cr McDonald said there would not be any pre-determined topics for the event and residents are invited to discuss any ideas that fall within Council’s area of influence.
“This event will help to give Council a better understanding of the community’s needs and aspirations,” he said.
Cr McDonald said the event would take the format of an informal conversation with Councillors.
“People will then have the opportunity to have their ideas recorded via giant notepads on tables inside the hall and to then have further conversations on specific topics with Councillors,” he said.
“All feedback will be collated for consideration by Council. A Customer Service Officer will be on hand to take inquiries about business-as-usual activities.”
The “Community Conversations” event will be held at Jondaryan Public Hall, Duke Street, Jondaryan on Monday, October 14, 2024, from 5.30pm to 7.30pm.
