Blackwater has received two major park renovations that have recently been completed, offering fresh new spaces for families and residents to enjoy.
The All Abilities Park has undergone significant upgrades, including a full irrigation system replacement to ensure the grass stays lush and green year-round. A new yarning circle has been added, creating a tranquil space for gatherings, alongside additional shaded tables and chairs for park visitors. The park’s existing popular flying fox remains intact, and new paths have been constructed to create a perfect circuit for young cyclists to practice.
Further upgrades to the park will continue in the coming year, with plans to enhance the space with additional garden plantings around the yarning circle. Informal seating and new shade trees will also be introduced to the back of the park, adding even more comfort and beauty to this well-loved community space.
Also, the much-anticipated new playgrounds at Dempsey Park have now been installed and are already proving to be a huge hit with the community.
These playgrounds form part of a broader vision for the park, with future upgrades planned to include nature play areas and more advanced play options for older children. These future developments will be guided by feedback from community consultations held in November 2023, ensuring that the park continues to meet the needs of Blackwater’s growing population.
‘Dempsey Park’s new playgrounds are just the beginning of what we envision for this space,’ said General Manager of Communities Adrian Burns.
‘The community’s input is vital, and we’re looking forward to continuing to shape the park with future stages that reflect what local families and children want.’ The Central Highlands Regional Council is proud to deliver these upgrades as part of its ongoing commitment to enhancing public spaces and promoting healthy outdoor lifestyles for the region’s residents.
