Gannawarra Shire residents took the opportunity to learn about operational and proposed renewable energy projects thanks to an information event held yesterday.
Gannawarra Shire Council, Edify Energy, Gentari, VicGrid, Transmission Company Victoria and the Australian Energy Market Operator united to host the Gannawarra energy information and bus tour, which attracted around 70 people.
“Council was pleased to unite with the various renewable energy providers and regulators for this special event, which provided those who attended with information on key energy infrastructure upgrades, such as VNI West, and local renewable energy projects that are proposed for the Gannawarra,” Council Chief Executive Officer, Geoff Rollinson said.
The program began at the Kerang Memorial Hall with presentations from Edify Energy, VicGrid, and Australian Energy Market Operator representatives, followed by a bus tour of the area.
“The presentations and bus tour enabled those who attended to learn what is proposed and to understand how these developments work within the network and learn how current projects operate, such as Edify Energy’s Koorangie Energy Storage System and the Gannawarra Solar Farm,” Mr Rollinson said.
Attendees also took the opportunity to talk to various industry representatives and ask any questions they may have.
“Council thanks all who were involved in organising this special event, as well as the residents who took the time to learn more about our renewable energy future,” Mr Rollinson said.
