Three suburban parks set for upgrades
City of Fremantle 18 Oct 2024

Parmelia Park in South Fremantle, Salentina Ridge Park in Beaconsfield and Hicks Street Park in North Fremantle are all in line for upgrades by mid-2025.

The City is seeking community input to ensure each playground replacement meets the needs of those who use them.

Based on community ideas, project budgets and scope, park play designs will be developed and delivered within the 2024/25 financial year.

Parmelia Park in South Fremantle

Upgrades to:

Address ongoing irrigation and landscaping concerns Renew the existing playground facilities   Add an accessible path, improve picnic areas, update seating and enhance irrigation Replace some struggling lawn areas with waterwise native plants to boost biodiversity and create a scenic walking path along the edges

More information and a survey are available on the City’s MySay page and there will be a community drop-in session from 9am to 11am on Saturday 9 November 2024 at the Parmelia Park BBQ area.

Salentina Ridge Park in Beaconsfield

Upgrades to:

Renew the existing playground facilities Repair or replace the concrete pad, bench seating and faulty water fountain  Repair the damaged mosaic artwork (contingent on budget availability and community interest)

Hicks Street Park in North Fremantle

Upgrades to:

Replace an old rocker play element Relocate the existing park benches to create a more inviting space for nature play and community socialising Incorporate natural elements such as logs, stones, and native plants into the landscape design to encourage exploration and outdoor activities for children
