ReWild Rockingham Launch
City of Rockingham 18 Oct 2024
Date18 October 2024

The City of Rockingham is excited to announce its most recent partnership with Perth NRM and the Perth South West Metropolitan Alliance to deliver the ReWild Perth Program across Rockingham.

Rewilding is a global movement that aims to restore natural ecosystems, particularly in urban areas where green spaces are becoming more scarce due to rapid urban development.

It focuses on engaging with the local community to help recreate environments that will help support native wildlife.

Events

The City will be hosting a range of educational workshops to help residents create a vibrant and thriving environment for both wildlife and the community.

It's easy to take charge of your space and "bring nature home". It can be as simple as adding a water source to your garden, balcony or courtyard, choosing a few native plants that provide food and shelter for our native animals or creating artificial homes for birds, mammals, frogs and insects.

To kick off the program, a Ready, Set, ReWild talk will be held at the Naragebup Regional Environment Centre as part of the Naragebup Festival on Saturday 26 October. You can find out more and stay up to date with what events are happening on our website.

ReWild is being delivered across local governments in the Perth South West Metropolitan Alliance to ensure we can all deliver the same objectives through our region.

The City's involvement in ReWild Perth is one of the many initiatives designed to encourage community engagement in increasing habitat for wildlife in our community. By participating in this project, the City aims to:

foster a deeper connection between residents and their natural surroundingspromote sustainable practices andinspire collective action to protect and enhance local ecosystems.
