Blackwater’s Doon Street has recently undergone a significant upgrade, improving the motorist and pedestrian experience.
The project included a new full-width asphalt overlay on Doon Street and its connection to Columba Street.
A 2-metre wide pathway was also constructed throughout the area, providing a safer and more convenient route for pedestrians. These improvements ensure a smoother journey for all users of the road.
The works are part of a $2.2 million road rehabilitation program for Blackwater under council’s 2024-2025 capital budget, with $1.2 million externally funded through the federal government’s Roads to Recovery initiative.
Under the rehabilitation program, designs for an upgrade to Littlefield Street are also underway. The project is likely to commence in the new year.
