Applications for Round Two of Charters Towers Regional Council’s Community Grants Programme will open on Friday, 1 November 2024 as an opportunity to support activities, programs, or services to take place between 1 January 2025 and 30 June 2025.
The programme aims to strengthen community development by offering financial or in-kind assistance to local groups involved in arts, culture, recreation, sports, and other community-focused initiatives which align with Council's commitment to enhancing the region through the equitable distribution of grants.
Councillor Julie Mathews is encouraging not-for-profit organisations to apply, highlighting the chance for groups to create and deliver new, diverse projects and services for the benefit of the community.
"The Community Grants Programme serves as an essential funding source for many organisations, providing crucial start-up funding that helps groups move toward self-sufficiency.
“Grants help reduce the costs associated with organising events or programs, making it easier to plan and execute initiatives that have a lasting positive impact,” said Cr Mathews.
In the last round of funding, several local organisations benefitted, including the Charters Towers Ball Association, Pentland Progress Association, Charters Towers Choristers, Charters Towers Civic Club, Centenary Park Charity Markets, Charters Towers Compassionate Communities and Southern Cross Western Horse Association.
“It’s always encouraging to see so many community groups applying for assistance, showcasing the community’s dedication to securing support for their valuable projects,” said Cr Mathews.
The programme is open to sports, recreation, arts, and other community-related groups, and applications demonstrating a strong, positive impact on the region will be prioritised.
Applications close on Thursday, 30 November 2024.
