Changes to Bright's streets for a safe weekend

The event will take place from Friday, 8 November to Sunday, 10 November, with road closures and important regulations in place to ensure a safe and smooth experience for all. 

Road Closures and Traffic Changes 

To manage traffic flow and keep pedestrians safe, road closures and traffic changes will be in effect from 7am on Thursday, 7 November until 12pm on Monday, 11 November across the Bright CBD.  

Key road closures include: 

Barnard Street at Camp Street intersection  Wood Street at Anderson Street intersection  Burke Street at Ireland Street roundabout (clocktower)  Gavan Street roundabout  Additional closures along Anderson Street, Ireland Street, Railway Avenue, and Cobden Street. 

Access to the CBD is limited to left turns only at various points.  

No right turns or u-turns will be permitted within the CBD during the event. Visitors are reminded to follow all signage and only park in marked bays—parking on median strips is prohibited. 

Parking Restrictions 

Parking restrictions will be enforced throughout the event, with parking infringements issued outside of official event days, which are Friday, 8 November, Saturday, 9 November, and Sunday, 10 November. 

Parking restrictions include: 

No standing zones, disabled carparks, and loading zones must remain clear at all times.  Parking infringements will apply outside of event times, including on Thursday, 7 November. 

Please adhere to all signage to avoid fines. 

Alcohol Restrictions 

As in previous years, alcohol consumption will be prohibited in designated public areas of the Bright CBD from 10pm on Thursday, 9 November until 7am on Monday, 13 November. 

"Council and Victoria Police are working together to ensure the safety of our community and visitors," Alpine Shire Chief Executive Officer, Will Jeremy, said.  

"The alcohol restrictions, in place since 2019, are essential for maintaining a family-friendly atmosphere during the Rod Run." 

Violations of these restrictions can result in an on-the-spot $200 fine under Council’s Community Local Law. 

“We are proud to support this amazing event, which brings great benefits to not only Bright but all of our surrounding towns,” Mr Jeremy said.  

“Our goal is to ensure everyone enjoys the weekend safely.” 

The Events Risk Assessment Panel, which includes Victoria Police, Ambulance Victoria, and other emergency services, recommends these restrictions to protect public safety.
