Huon Valley Council anticipates the endorsement of its 2023/2024 Annual Report at Wednesday night’s Ordinary Meeting of Council.
“Our Annual Report showcases the dedication and hard work of our Council staff, the strategic direction set by our Executive Leadership Team and Councillors, and the collective achievements that have shaped our community over the past year,” said Mayor Sally Doyle. She also stated, “Together with the CEO, we look forward to realising more achievements for our community in the upcoming 2024/2025 year.”
The Annual Report is the usual mechanism to publicly release comprehensive details of Council’s complex operations and financial management throughout the preceding year. Within this context and the expectation of disclosure in the Annual Report, the termination payment of Jason Browne is provided on page 152. The recruitment process of Council’s current CEO, Lachlan Kranz, is also detailed in the report.
The financial outcome of Council, as at 30 June 2024, was a significant improvement to the estimated budget. Council’s finances remain strong, with a $203,000 surplus against an expected deficit of $1.28 million, and liquid assets comfortably exceeding liabilities. These results support Council’s Long Term Financial Plan, ensuring we can deliver community services while staying financially stable both now and into the future.
The Draft Annual Report can be viewed on Council’s website within the attachments of the October 2024 Ordinary Meeting of Council Agenda.
