Culvert replacement works are progressing at Maria Creek Road, Anduramba, in the northern part of the Toowoomba Region.
This project is one of nine projects approved under the Betterment program as part of the wider 2022 Flood Recovery Program
Toowoomba Regional Council Construction and Maintenance (Infrastructure Services) portfolio spokesperson, Cr Carol Taylor, said Maria Creek culvert was one of the worst flood-affected roads in the Region, and had been identified as one of nine projects to receive additional funding to improve flood resilience.
“Council is grateful for the financial assistance for these projects through the jointly funded Commonwealth and State Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA),” Cr Taylor said.
The other Betterment projects currently underway include:
Remediation and improvement work on the rock chute in Kearney Street Scour protection and other improvements at Umbiram Road for greater flood resilience Floodway upgrade at Blaxland Road for greater flood resilience; and Floodway upgrade at Westbrook-Wyreema Road for greater flood resilience.“The remaining four projects will commence in late 2024 and early 2025, equating to nine Betterment projects in total,” Cr Taylor said.
“These improvement projects are being delivered by Council’s own construction and maintenance teams,” she said.
“The 2022 Flood Recovery Program is now over 95% complete and has included work to more than 1500 roads across the Region and seen the replacement of more than 100 culverts.
“Once again, I continue to extend my sincere gratitude to the community for their patience and understanding as we work to restore our road network across the Region.”
