The Perron Institute Hole-in-One Shootout, held at Wembley Golf Course on 13 October 2024, was a resounding success, bringing together professional and amateur golfers to support Telethon.

Held on the 18th hole of the Tuart Course, participants aimed for a challenging 135-metre hole-in-one, with a $250,000 prize up for grabs. The event raised essential funds for the Perron Institute’s medical research into youth mental health.

Among the 10 professional golfers and special guests were world champion ocean swimmer Andy Donaldson, and Joey Eardley from the Kai-Fella Foundation, which advocates for suicide prevention.

Steve Allen, a representative of Shaw and Partners, took home the closest-to-the-pin prize of a $2,500 travel voucher. The day also featured 40 additional participants who qualified through the ‘Golden Ball’ Trackman driving range activation and the ‘Play with the Pros’ corporate golf day.

“The Perron Institute Hole-in-One Shootout is an important event supporting research into youth mental health and neurological conditions. We are proud to host it at Wembley Golf Course,” Town of Cambridge Mayor Gary Mack said.

“Wembley Golf Course continues to be an exceptional venue for events like this, and we look forward to future successes.”

The partnership between the Town of Cambridge, the Perron Institute, and Telethon has raised over $700,000 throughout the past five years, supporting critical research in youth mental health and neurological conditions.
