Work to replace the Apex Park Road bridge with a new concrete structure will begin on Monday, 11 November.
Construction of the bridge will be welcome news for visitors to the barbecue area and amenities at Apex Park, which have been closed to vehicles after the original bridge collapsed into Washpen Creek in July 2023.
“Located on the banks of Reedy Lake, Apex Park is a popular location for residents and visitors to experience our natural lakes and waterways,” Gannawarra Shire Council Acting Chief Executive Officer, Amanda Wilson said.
“The start of these works will provide peace of mind for all who enjoy this area, which is renowned for hosting family and community gatherings.”
As part of the project, electrical works will begin next week before Murray Constructions, which was awarded the tender to complete the project, arrives on-site to commence construction efforts.
“Council thanks residents, visitors and motorists for their patience and looks forward to seeing this project completed by the end of the year,” Ms Wilson said.
The construction of the Apex Park Road bridge, as well as the replacement of the Kervins Road bridge, form part of Council’s $29 million capital works program, with the works supported by the Federal Government’s Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program.
