The Town of Cambridge was pleased to partake in the Curtin Sustainability Fair 2024, organised by Federal Member for Curtin Kate Chaney MP, held at the Claremont Showgrounds on 2 November.

This family-friendly event welcomed more than 2,000 attendees for a day focused on sustainable living, recycling, and responsible consumption, alongside workshops and engaging activities for children. Local primary schools were also invited to take part, adding a strong educational focus to the day.

The Town’s Senior Sustainability Officer, together with community groups and Earthwise, highlighted practical steps towards a net-zero future by offering information on organic recycling, energy efficiency, and water conservation. The organic waste station, provided in collaboration with Earthwise, encouraged families to understand how small, sustainable choices in waste management can contribute to a healthier environment.

Special thanks to natural areas groups within the Town: Cambridge Coastcare, Friends of Perry Lakes, Friends of Galup, and Friends of Bold Park for attending. The volunteers explained the importance of our green spaces to preserve biodiversity and help reduce the impacts of urban heating.

As we navigate our way towards a net-zero future, events like these are a vital opportunity for our community to learn more about the changes we can make to live more sustainably and reduce our environmental impact.
