Tickets are still available for two free events occurring this month as part of the Let’s Talk About the Weather program.
Gannawarra Shire Council, Make a Change Australia and various local partner organisations have united to host two special events, which include the Positive Green Spaces lunch, occurring at Kerang’s Grow Collective Garden on Wednesday, 13 November from 12.30pm, and the Living With Water dinner being held at Big Cohuna Stockyard on Wednesday, 20 November from 6pm.
“During the second half of the year Council has asked for residents’ experiences with extreme weather events, such as flash or riverine flooding, storms and drought, and what can be done to lessen the impact these events have on communities,” Council Acting Chief Executive Officer, Amanda Wilson said.
“These free events will build on those conversations, with those attending able to hear from experts and local champions who are leading the way in cultivating green spaces and adapting to changing weather conditions.”
Gardening Australia presenter and author, Millie Ross will be the main presenter at the Positive Green Spaces lunch, which will also feature discussions with Claire Fry and Angela Hird regarding healthy food and green corridors.
Agriculture Victoria seasonal risk agronomist, Dale Grey will discuss how to manage during wet and dry periods at the Living With Water dinner, with Jo Bear to talk about farming sustainability and Dale Boyd to highlight the importance of soil-water balances.
“Both events will inspire residents to either develop positive green spaces or provide insight into how to manage with our changing climate,” Ms Wilson said.
“With both events close to capacity, now is the time to book your seat at these events and join the conversation about our weather.”

Residents can also share their thoughts, experiences and ideas on the weather, its direct impact and local solutions via the online survey available at https://makeachange.org.au/gannawarra/
The Let’s Talk About the Weather program is an initiative of the Gannawarra Community Resilience Committee and supported by Victorian and Commonwealth Governments under the Commonwealth-State Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA) as part of the Gannawarra Community Flood Recovery Program.
