Works on the Tunnel Track Loop Walk in Pomonal are well underway, with the initial phase of track-clearing – begun in late September – now completed.
The purpose of these works were to remove obstacles and hazards, making way for the beginning of surfacing works. Sections of the track have been updated with local granite sand to safeguard tree protection zones and standardise the alignment of the track’s surface.
Following the completion of this surfacing work, outdoor furniture such as bench seats and picnic tables will be installed at various points along the track.
The stairs at the corner of Ararat-Halls Gap Road and Robins Road may also receive an upgrade, dependent on the project’s budget.
The Tunnel Track Loop project, part of Planning Permit PA3093, was developed to enhance the community’s recreational offerings with a new and improved walking track.
“We recognise that projects like the Tunnel Track upgrade can be inconvenient to the community, and we appreciate residents’ cooperation and patience,” says Council CEO Dr Tim Harrison. “Once complete, the upgraded walk will be a fantastic asset to not only Pomonal but our municipality and region as a whole.”
Any questions or concerns regarding the project can be directed to Council’s Economic Development Lead, Tim McDougall, on 0448 848 527.
