The Moree Regional Airport (YMOR) played a crucial role in supporting firefighting operations for Balonne Shire earlier this week, as two fires threatened the township of Dirranbandi.
Recent improvements at the airport have enhanced its capacity to accommodate firefighting aircraft, including those operated by the Rural Fire Service (RFS).
Additionally, the airport is equipped with a water pumping system capable of supplying water to firefighting aircraft as needed. The water storage tank has a capacity of 215,000 litres, with a pump flow rate of 700 litres per minute, ensuring that firefighting efforts are well supported.
