Do you know a deserving local hero who has stood out in our community over the past year? Get in now and nominate them for a 2025 Edward River Australia Day Award!
Edward River residents are encouraged to nominate their local heroes, with nominations now open for the 2025 Australia Day Awards. The Edward River Council Australia Day Awards celebrate the achievements and contributions of individuals and community organisations in our region.
“These awards provide a great opportunity to recognise the deserving individuals who have made a real difference in our community throughout the past twelve months,” said Mayor Cr Ashley Hall.
“It’s important to celebrate those whose dedication and contributions build up our community and have a lasting impact; and to ensure they feel valued for the time and effort they put in”.
In 2025 Council will recognise the outstanding contributions from local community members and organisations across nine categories: Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year, Sports Award, Junior Sports Award, Arts & Culture Award, Junior Arts & Culture Award, Community Event of the Year, Community Group of the Year and Environmental Citizen of the Year (the Bill & Elwyn Hermiston Memorial Award).
Award recipients are determined by Council’s Australia Day Awards Assessment Panel, with recipients announced at Council’s Australia Day celebrations, held annually on 26 January. Recipients will be presented with an Australia Day gift and certificate by the Mayor.
Completed nominations should be returned to Edward River Council by close of business on Friday 6 January 2025.
Nomination forms are available on Council’s website and are also available from the Customer Service Centre located at 180 Cressy Street or the Edward River Library.
