The Inaugural Ararat Christmas Market is ready to kick off in early December, with stalls confirmed and prepped to set up their wares for an evening session on Friday 6 December (4pm – 7pm), and a day session on Saturday 7 December (10am – 2pm).

Some stalls will take part in both sessions, while others are slated for the Friday or Saturday only.

The market will be located in front of Town Hall, spanning the area by the Boer War Memorial Fountain. Food trucks will be joining the set-up, so marketgoers can grab a bite while they peruse stallholders’ goods, which will include an array of handmade crafts and unique Christmas gifts.

Attendees can also expect to see our best local winemakers offering free tastings and bottles for sale.

The evening of Friday 6 December will mark the official lighting of the town’s public Christmas tree, which will soon be erected on the corner Vincent and High Streets.

“The Christmas Market has been organised to offer local handicrafters and small gift businesses an extra avenue for Christmas sales, as well as provide our community a chance to get together and enjoy the festive atmosphere which the annual lighting of our Christmas tree brings,” says Ararat Rural City Council CEO Dr Tim Harrison.

“There are a number of other excellent community events being held over the same Friday and weekend, and we encourage everyone to get out and discover the variety of activities our local organisations have to offer.”
