Residents are being encouraged to get creative and share what they love or value about housing in the Toowoomba Region and share it for a chance to win.

As part of Toowoomba Regional Council’s (TRC) Local Housing Action Plan Strategy, children 12 years and under are encouraged to draw, paint or design their dream neighbourhood or home, while residents over 18 can submit a photo of the housing they would like to see in the Toowoomba Region and share it for their chance to win.

TRC Place (Planning) portfolio spokesperson Councillor Tim McMahon said the designs and images would help to showcase how future generations see living in the Toowoomba Region.

“We as a region are changing and the population growing, with the current housing shortage seeing too few homes for too many people.

“Entrants are encouraged to think about what future living could look like to them. How would they like to live or what would they like to be close to? Do they want to be able to walk or ride their bike to school and work or live close to family and friends. Maybe they’d like the opportunity to have more neighbourhoods or plenty of outdoor space,” Cr McMahon said.

The competition closes Friday, 20 December 2024 and will be judged by a panel of Council representatives with the winner notified in accordance with the competition Terms and Conditions.

Designs and photos can be uploaded direct to Council’s Your Say page or delivered to a Customer Service Centre or regional Library (designs only).
