Mayor Beresford’s November 2024 Council Meeting Wrap-up

The November Council meeting was held on Tuesday 19th November. The following are a few of the items addressed at the meeting.

Council Meeting Schedule for 2025

Council Meetings for 2025 will continue to be held on the third Tuesday of the month except for October and December when the meetings will be held on 14th October and 11th December. The full list of the Council Meeting dates for 2025 will be posted on the Council website.

Community Consultation Meetings

Dates for the second round of community consultation meetings for this year are as follows:-

Monday 25th November 2024 – Noorama 10am – 1.30pm

Tuesday 26th November 2024 – Wyandra 10am – 12pm and Cunnamulla 5.30pm – 7 pm

Wednesday 27th November 2024 – Yowah 9am – 11am and Eulo 1.30pm – 3.30pm

Swimming Pool Report

A report on Cunnamulla Swimming Pool operations and activities undertaken by the contractor All About Aquatics during October was tabled and noted. Upcoming courses open to the public include First Aid and CPR on 7th December, New Pool Lifeguard Training on 7th & 8th December and a Pool Lifeguard Update on 8th December.  

Street Banners

The quotation submitted by Flagtrax has been accepted to supply a new pulling system for the town banners and a range of new banners depicting local festivals, attractions and the festive season. The new system offers ground accessible changeover for the banners and will overcome the existing need for a cherry picker to replace banners.

Annual Report & Audit for 2023-2024

Council has adopted the Annual Report for 2023-2024 prepared in accordance with Local Government legislation and containing operational achievements, corporate governance requirements and financial highlights for the year. Paroo Shire Council has received an unqualified Audit Report for the financial year ended 30th June, 2024 and the QAO closing report was tabled at the meeting for Council’s consideration.
