Murray Parade, Koondrook upgrade begins

Work to upgrade a 300-metre section of Murray Parade, Koondrook will begin this week.

The project, which forms part of Gannawarra Shire Council’s 2024/25 capital works program, will result in the sealing of a section of Murray Parade between the Koondrook-Barham Bridge and Forest Street.

“The northern section of Murray Parade connects motorists to Grigg Road and the Murray River crossing, and the Koondrook Primary School site, which includes the primary school, kindergarten and maternal and child health services,” Council Chief Executive Officer, Geoff Rollinson said.

“These improvements will enable all-weather access to this section of the town, which will benefit current and future residents, as well as visitors to the area.”

As part of the works, Murray Parade will be realigned to correctly place the road within the road reserve, ensuring it complies with infrastructure standards. The project also includes sealing the road surface and installing new stormwater drainage systems. If necessary, existing powerlines may need to be realigned to accommodate the new road layout to ensure all infrastructure meets safety standards.

“Council thanks residents and motorists for their patience as these works occur and looks forward to the completion of these much needed works next year,” Mr Rollinson said.
