Disability Assembly WA dedicated a tree at Lake Monger (Galup) on 3 December 2024 to mark International Day of People with Disability.
The event celebrated the organisation’s vital role in supporting and advocating for people with disability across Western Australia.
A tuart tree (Eucalyptus gomphocephala) was dedicated as a tribute to local disability groups' grassroots efforts in empowering individuals and fostering stronger, more inclusive communities. The ceremony also highlighted the significance of the day, which calls for greater awareness, accessibility, and recognition of the contributions of people with disability.
The event brought together disability advocates, community leaders, and representatives from the Town of Cambridge’s Parks and Natural Environment team. Among the attendees were Dr Sarah Love, CEO of Disability Assembly WA, Bruce Langoulant AM, a founding member and board member of the organisation, and more than 20 members of the public.
The ceremony included the unveiling of a commemorative plaque by Disability Assembly WA, symbolising the strength, resilience, and contributions of people with disability to the community.
The Town of Cambridge was proud to support this initiative, which reinforces the importance of inclusion and celebrates the diversity that enriches the community.
