The City of Fremantle is seeking expressions of interest from both commercial and community organisations to lease Victoria Hall.
The preferred use of the historic building is for arts and cultural activities that maintain suitable public access.
Parts of the building, at 179 High Street, can be used for office and studio space, but the City is keen to see a range of activities that are made available to the public, such as community events and bookings.
The property includes a main hall with stage and mezzanine, green room, cloak room, storage, basic kitchen facilities, offices, full bar, side courtyard and public toilet facilities.
Site visits will be facilitated upon request, through the City’s commercial team.
A panel, convened by the City, will assess the EOIs in line with the following criteria: cultural use, operational capacity and financials.
The City may choose to engage with multiple proponents if a mix of aligned concepts are pitched.
The City may also choose not to lease the building if no suitable tenants are identified.
The selected applicant and subsequent lease are subject to Council approval.
Earlier in 2024, an EOI process for the sale of Victoria Hall did not identify a suitable buyer. This led to the endorsement by Council in October of an EOI process to identify suitable arts and cultural uses via a lease or license of the premises.
Expressions of interest may be registered from now till 5pm Friday 21 February 2025 via the City’s EOI web page.
