Wyndham City proudly celebrates and thanks all the wonderful volunteers in our City on International Volunteer Day, 5 December 2024.
International Volunteer Day (IVD) is mandated by the United Nations General Assembly and is celebrated around the world on 5 December each year and recognises the outstanding contribution that volunteers make in their communities.
The day aims to raise awareness of the important role volunteers play in addressing the world’s challenges and highlights the power of volunteering to strengthen communities and create positive change.
Wyndham City Mayor, Cr Mia Shaw said: “Volunteering contributes to a better world for everyone. International Volunteer Day is the perfect time to acknowledge and thank all the volunteers in Wyndham.
“Volunteers make a significant and profound contribution to our community.”
“On behalf of Council and the wider community we truly appreciate the important role that volunteers play in our community – giving their time for the betterment of society without financial gain.”
“International Volunteer Day is an opportune time for us to say ‘thank you’ and reflect on the significant role that volunteers play in our communities.”
“Volunteers help our community in a wide range of ways from volunteer emergency services, helping out at sporting clubs and associations, preserving and protecting the local environment, visiting and supporting vulnerable people and raising money for many charities.”
