Update at 10am:

The repair to the water main has been complete at intersection of Constance Street and Basalt Street which has caused a major water outage for the Mareeba Township, and water should be restored by 11am, Friday 6 December 2024.

Council staff are now turning on the valves and bleeding the lines. There are a number of valves that need to be turned back on to restore the water supply.

Council expects the water to be restored by 11am, and it may take a bit longer for the water to reach full pressure across the whole town.

Once water begins to be restored, residents may have will have milky, dirty or discoloured water. Residents are advised that if they experience this, they should turn on a cold water tap and run it until the water runs clear.

Thank you to the community for your patience as Council works towards restoring the water supply.
