The City of Rockingham has celebrated the contributions of its local volunteers at this year’s International Volunteer Day Garden Party.
The City funded 55 local volunteers to attend the annual Garden Party at Government House on 5 December. Hosted by Volunteering WA, the Garden Party is an opportunity for volunteers from across WA to connect with each other and different organisations, and to celebrate the efforts of the over 1.5 million volunteers in the state.
Mayor Deb Hamblin said the City was incredibly grateful for the valuable contributions volunteers made in our community and had extended the invitation to all active City of Rockingham volunteers as a way of saying thank you.
“International Volunteer Day is celebrated every year on 5 December to recognise and promote the tireless work of volunteers,” Mayor Hamblin said.
In 2023, volunteers in the City of Rockingham delivered 18,592 hours of volunteer hours, equalling about $892,577.92 of labour.
Mayor Deb Hamblin acknowledged all local volunteer and emergency organisations for all that they do.
“Volunteers are the heart of our community, contributing their time and energy to make a significant difference to the quality of life enjoyed by others,” she said.
In my role I am delighted to be able to meet volunteers from all walks of life who dedicate countless hours to causes that make our community such a fabulous place.Anyone interested in becoming a City volunteer can express their interest to the Rockingham Volunteer Centre or learn more at Volunteering.
