Ararat Rural City residents are encouraged to nominate their heroes within the municipality for the 2025 Australia Day Awards, which recognise the efforts of those who go above and beyond for our community.

Council is now accepting nominations within four categories for the 2025 Australia Day Awards, the winners of which will be announced on Australia Day (26 January) 2025.

The four categories are Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year, Volunteer of the Year, and Community Project of the Year.

Recognising our Citizen of the Year – a person who dedicates themselves to improving our community – inspires others to get involved and contribute to our shared well-being. Honouring our Young Citizen of the Year not only acknowledges their achievements but encourages future generations to strive for excellence and make a positive impact. Our Volunteer of the Year award highlights the invaluable contributions of those who selflessly give their time to support our community organizations and events, and the Community Projects Award showcases the power of collaboration and the positive impact that community initiatives can have on our lives.

“We can probably all think of someone who deserves public appreciation for their fantastic work in bettering Ararat Rural City,” says Mayor Jo Armstrong. “Be a part of making that appreciation known, and nominate your local hero in one of our four categories.”

Submissions are open now; head to the dedicated Engage Ararat page to submit your nomination via the online form. Applications close 6 January 2024.
