Western Australian artists are invited to enter the 2025 City of Rockingham Art Prize for the opportunity to compete for a total prize pool of more than $20,000.
Returning for the seventh time, the Art Prize provides artists with the opportunity to have their work on public display in a professionally-curated exhibition at the Rockingham Arts Centre from Saturday 14 June – Sunday 6 July 2025.
City of Rockingham Mayor Deb Hamblin said she was delighted to announce that due to the popularity of the event, the exhibition would be extended by two weeks in 2025.
“The Art Prize is vital in celebrating and supporting the diverse artistic talent within our community and I invite artists at every stage of their career to participate,” Mayor Hamblin said.
Entries are now open and close at 4pm on Thursday 13 February 2025.
First prize offers $10,000 in cash and is non-acquisitive, allowing the winner to also sell their work during the exhibition.
Other categories include the popular Small Sculpture Award, which will feature original three-dimensional works in any medium, with a $4,000 prize.
The Emerging Artist Award and the First Nations Artist Award are back, each offering $2,000 in cash to support and recognise outstanding talent, as well as the sought-after $1,500 Local Resident Award.
Art Prize Curator Sandra Murray strongly encouraged WA-based artists to apply.
“Be confident and take the leap! We are committed to providing a substantial platform for artists, showcasing their work in a professionally-curated exhibition at the Rockingham Arts Centre,” she said.
Entry to the Art Prize is free. Artworks can be in any media within the terms and conditions, excluding installations and video. Finalists will be chosen by a professional selection panel. All artworks will be for sale.
