Level Five Water Restrictions for Mungindi with effect Monday 27 January for 34 hours

Due to a pump failure at Council’s Water Treatment Plant in Mungindi, Council wishes to advise residents of Mungindi that Level 5 Water Restrictions need to be implemented effectively Monday 27 January until 5pm Tuesday 28 January 2025.

All residents and commercial users are requested to only use ESSENTIAL water.

Level 5 Restrictions

External Watering - banned Washing of vehicles - banned Washing down of paved surfaces - banned Swimming pool filling - banned Showers to be kept to less than 5 minutes Only ESSENTIAL internal water

These Water Restrictions will apply until 5pm, Tuesday 28 January 2025, pending Council being able to fix the problem today, Monday 27 January.

Acting General Manager Darryl Fitzgerald explained “that a pump failure caused dirty water to enter the clear water tank and therefore no water can be supplied to the reservoirs until this tank has been emptied, cleaned and refilled. The water in the Mungindi reservoirs needs to be preserved for essential indoor use and emergency fire-fighting purposes”.

Mr Fitzgerald also confirmed that irrigation by alternate water sources will not be affected by these restrictions.

If residents of Mungindi have any questions about these restrictions, they are encouraged to contact Council’s 24-hour hotline (02) 6757 3222.
