The Town produces mulch from pruned street and reserve trees and uses it to maintain public spaces. When there’s surplus, it’s offered to residents and local community groups. The Town has updated the collection process to ensure fairer distribution, better resource management, and reduced waste.

Surplus mulch is available to residents and community groups after maintaining the Town’s public spaces. Call ahead to confirm availability: 9377 9000. Each individual or group may collect up to one 6x4 trailer load per visit. Mulch is available on a first come, first served basis, and collection is self-service only. Collect from the designated area behind the Town’s Depot, 69 Scaddan Street (corner of Scaddan Street and Troy Street).For more details, visit the Sustainability Programs webpage or call the Depot at 9377 9000.
Please note that the Town of Bassendean is located within the Polyphagous Shot-Hole Borer Quarantine Area, so this mulch must only be used within the Town of Bassendean to prevent the spread of this pest.
