Toowoomba Regional Council (TRC) is inviting residents to have their say on updates made to the Central Highfields Master Plan.
The original Master Plan, which is for the Council-owned land at the corner of Highfields and O’Brien roads, was developed in 2018 after community consultation, has been updated to provide more detail for the future land use.
TRC Place (Planning) portfolio spokesperson Cr Tim McMahon said the updated Master Plan will give the community more certainty around how the long-term vision for the emerging Highfields Central Business District will continue to be shaped.
“The community has played an important role in creating the broad vision for the future of Highfields,” Cr McMahon said.
“We want to hear feedback from residents on the updated Master Plan to help us progress the planning process that will cater for Highfields’ projected population growth and the community’s future needs.
“There are great features in this Master Plan, including the public transport hub, which will be adjacent to the commercial centre and will include park and ride facilities and links to active transport networks.
“Together, we can ensure Highfields’ evolution is well planned and delivers a range of suitable social, cultural and community infrastructure, which could include a mixture of recreation and event spaces.”
Residents and interested groups are encouraged to provide their feedback by completing a survey on Council’s Your Say website or a feedback form, which is available at Council's Customer Service centres before 5pm on Monday, February 17, 2025.
