Water Restrictions to Level 1 for the Township of Moree

Council is pleased to announce that water restrictions will now be reduced to Level 1.

General Manager Natalia Cowley would like to sincerely thank all residents for their swift and effective response to the recent Level 2 water restrictions. “Thanks to your efforts, alongside the use of advanced SMART meter technology, reservoir water levels have seen significant improvement”.

As Moree continues to experience hot, dry conditions, we are taking proactive measures to ensure that water remains available for essential needs, while minimising wastage. Under Level 1 restrictions, the following guidelines will apply.

Sprinkler Systems - Sprinklers may not be used between 9am and 4pm during the heat of the day. However, handheld hoses and buckets can be used at any time.

Surface Washing - Washing of paved and concrete surfaces is prohibited.

Swimming Pools - Residents are encouraged to use pool covers when pools are not in use to reduce evaporation.

Car Washing - Car washing is permitted only with a trigger hose and bucket.

Clothes Washing - Residents are encouraged to only wash full loads of laundry to conserve water.

Fountains - Fountains must be turned off between 10pm and 7am and pond cleaning is not permitted during this time.

These Level 1 restrictions do not apply to the irrigation of sporting fields and Council parks, which are typically supplied with non-potable water. However, areas on town water supply will be carefully managed to minimise water wastage.

Council urges all residents to continue their efforts in water conservation and to follow these guidelines to ensure the ongoing sustainability of Moree’s water supply during hot weather.
