Statement on Fremantle Arts Centre café and Leisure Centre kiosk operations

The City of Fremantle was today advised at short notice by the operator of the Fremantle Arts Centre café and the Fremantle Leisure Centre kiosk that they will cease operations effective tomorrow, Saturday.
While the City tried to negotiate a solution for the operator to remain, an appropriate agreement could not be reached.
The City is disappointed in this outcome and acknowledges that patrons and visitors to the Arts Centre and the Leisure Centre will be equally disappointed by the inconvenience.
The City notes that the operator has made this decision despite still being within a rent-free period and additional offers of support.
The City is currently negotiating with other local café operators to run the café and kiosk on a temporary basis until a solution can be found.
