Earlier this month, 2 new chlorine feeders were installed at the Emerald Aquatic Centre, ensuring consistent water quality and public safety, as well as reducing maintenance costs.
Central Highlands Regional Council’s Chief Executive Officer Aaron Johansson said the upgrade comes following problems with the previous system.
‘The older units were more manual, and this meant we were dealing with multiple blockages and failures leading to problems with chemical dosing and unplanned pool closures,’ Mr Johansson said.
‘Summers in the Central Highlands are hot, and we appreciate how important our aquatic facilities are to the community, especially during these months.
‘We are so pleased we have been able to source an appropriate solution and get the Emerald centre back on track for the enjoyment of our residents.’
The new feeders have been installed at the 25-metre, frog and toddler pools.
Benefits of the new system include:
Improved water quality: With more precise and consistent chlorine dosing, the water will remain safer and more hygienic, enhancing the overall experience for swimmers. Health and safety: The separation of chlorine and acid systems reduces the risk of chemical reactions, making the pools safer for everyone using the facility (community and operators). Cost efficiency: The more efficient dosing system reduces chemical waste, helping to keep costs down, which could help the Centre maintain affordable fees for the community. Reliability: With the new system requiring less maintenance and fewer failures, users can rely on the pools being open and in optimal condition for longer periods. Environmental impact: With reduced chemical usage, the new system has a smaller environmental footprint, contributing to sustainability goals. For pool opening hours please head to our aquatic centres page.
