Public notice – Hunter Street Sporting Complex lighting issues

Council is currently addressing an issue with the light poles at the Hunter Street Sporting Complex in Blackwater. 

Council’s electrical contractor has identified that birds have been chewing exposed wiring at the top of the light poles. As a precaution, all affected light poles have been tagged out while we work through the issue. 

The team are actively assessing the situation and exploring solutions to prevent further damage and ensure the safety of players, spectators, and the wider community. Council staff have been in regular contact with club presidents to keep them informed of developments and the steps being taken to resolve the matter. 

We appreciate the community’s patience and understanding as we work to restore safe and functional lighting at the sports fields. Further updates will be provided as the situation progresses.
