Innovation in Fremantle at the heart of Propel Fremantle Accelerator Fund 2025
City of Fremantle 26 Feb 2025

The Propel Fremantle Program is thrilled to invite Western Australian ventures and startups to apply for the 2025 Propel Fremantle Accelerator Fund, a program aimed at fostering local innovation in the blue economy, immersive and creative industries, and the sustainability sector.

The program is funded by the City of Fremantle, Lotterywest and Spacecubed, via the Meshpoints Innovative Society Initiative which exists to build a stronger culture of entrepreneurship and innovation in WA.

The pilot program launched in 2023, saw nine successful recipients receive a range of subsidised services empowering them to propel their ideas towards successful commercialisation.

The 2025 program will strengthen its commitment to leveraging Fremantle’s existing small business support networks while providing new start-up ventures with access to critical resources they may not yet have.

Through subsidised access to essential business services—including incubators, coaching, mentoring, office space, networks, memberships, legal and accounting services—the program aims to accelerate growth and innovation. Additional assistance will be identified during the assessment phase to ensure tailored support for each venture.

“The Propel Fremantle Accelerator Fund is more than just financial support—it’s about building a dynamic and sustainable business ecosystem,” said Fremantle Mayor Hannah Fitzhardinge.

“We are committed to empowering ventures that are shaping the future of our economy and positioning Fremantle as a hub for innovation.”

The 2025 fund is open to startups and ventures operating within the blue economy, creative and immersive technology, or sustainability sector. While applicants are not required to be currently based in Fremantle, co-working space will be provided in Fremantle as part of the program.

The $50,000 grant fund will be managed by the Fremantle Chamber of Commerce, with the support of the Propel Fremantle steering committee.

“The program is about breaking down barriers for entrepreneurs and giving them the support they need to thrive,” said Chrissie Maus, CEO of the Fremantle Chamber of Commerce.

“By leveraging Fremantle’s existing business ecosystem and opening doors to new opportunities, we’re ensuring that innovative ventures have the resources, networks, and expertise to grow and succeed. This program is a vital step in cementing Fremantle as a hub for forward-thinking businesses and investment.”

With Fremantle’s rich history of entrepreneurship and community-driven growth, the Propel Fremantle Accelerator Fund is set to attract forward-thinking people, and businesses seeking to invest in innovative startups, emerging talent, and the jobs of tomorrow.

By connecting investors with high-potential ventures, the initiative strengthens Fremantle’s position as a leading hub for business innovation and economic sustainability.
