Charters Towers residents and the business community are advised that Charters Towers remains on a Level 1 Water Restriction.

The larger temporary pump line is still in use, increasing the capacity to the reservoir. However, permanent repairs remain dependent on the river dropping further to allow safe access for works.

In the meantime, the community is encouraged to help maintain a daily water usage target of 9 megalitres (ML) by following these restrictions:

Micro spray and drip systems with timers: 7pm–8am on the odds and evens system. Sprinklers can be used from 6am-8am and 7pm-9pm on the odds and evens system. Hand-held hoses, watering cans, and buckets may be used at any time. Paved areas can only be cleaned with high-pressure water cleaners.

The Charters Towers water consumption for Sunday, 2 March was 7.9ML

Updates will be provided every Monday.
