Community groups and organisations wanting to learn how to produce successful grant applications will benefit from The Grants Guy Roadshow, which is coming to the Gannawarra later this month.
Gannawarra Shire Council, Balranald Shire Council, Murray River Council and Swan Hill Rural City Council have united to bring The Grants Guy, Keith Whelan to the region to host a series of workshops focusing on grant application writing and community capacity building.
“Community groups across the region will benefit from Keith’s expertise about the grant application process, developed whilst working in the local government, university, sporting and disability sectors,” Council Chief Executive Officer, Geoff Rollinson said.
“Keith has also taught grant writing workshops for local governments across New South Wales, and various sporting clubs such as the Central Coast Mariners A-League soccer club, ACT Brumbies Super Rugby club and Cricket New South Wales.”
As part of the roadshow, an asset-based community development workshop, which focuses on empowering communities to drive their own sustainable development, will be held at CohunaCo (38 Channel Street, Cohuna) on Thursday, 27 March from 10am-1pm. Other workshops occurring as part of The Grants Guy Road will be held on the following dates:
Monday, 24 March: Grant writing (Euston Club, 10.30am-1.30pm); Community capacity building (Greenham Park Hall, Balranald, 5.30pm-8.30pm). Wednesday, 26 March: Grant writing (Moulamein Bowling Club, 10.30am-1.30pm); Community capacity building (Swan Hill Neighbourhood House, 5.30pm-8.30pm). Keith will also feature at the Gannawarra Sporting Club Dinner, occurring at the Koondrook Recreation Reserve on Tuesday, 25 March from 6pm. This free event, hosted by Fox Footy presenter, Brihony Dawson, includes the launch of Council’s Fair Access policy and a panel of industry professionals participating in a question-and-answer session about all things sport and recreation, grant funding and club support.
