Council is actively monitoring the flying-fox situation in Duaringa and currently undertaking tree maintenance at Mackenzie Park to help deter their return. The park will remain fenced off until this work is completed, with further updates provided as the situation progresses.
Central Highlands Regional Council Chief Executive Officer Aaron Johansson said council is taking a proactive approach to managing the issue while ensuring compliance with government guidelines.
‘We understand the community’s concerns and frustrations regarding the presence of flying-foxes in Duaringa, and we are committed to managing the situation in line with the State Government’s requirements,’ Mr Johansson said.
Mr Johansson assured the community that council will continue to provide updates as work progresses.
‘The health and safety of our community is our priority, and we appreciate everyone’s patience as we work to manage this issue,’ he said.
