The Shire of Coolgardie’s outdoor crew has been hard at work ensuring the community is prepared for winter rainfall. Crews have begun clearing storm water drains and waterways, which can often become clogged with weeds, dead trees, and rubbish. This proactive maintenance will help water drain more efficiently, reducing the risk of flooding during major downpours.

Work began on Calitris Rd before progressing through Irish Mulga Drive and onto Bluebush Roads. Alongside clearing debris, the team also constructed new banks to better direct water flow and prevent erosion. Heavy equipment was used to clear larger waterways, while manual labour ensured road-side drains were free from blockages. Thanks to these efforts, the waterways are now wider, cleaner, and better prepared for next rain event.

A big thank you to the Shire’s outdoor crew for their hard work. Their efforts make a real difference, and we appreciate their commitment.

Works are scheduled to continue in Kambalda and will soon begin in Coolgardie to ensure all areas benefit from these important drainage improvements.
