Charters Towers residents and the business community are advised Charters Towers is now on a Level 2 Water Restriction.

The river level has dropped back below the point of concern and treatment is back to the previous reduced capacity, with a daily target use of 9 megalitres (ML) per day.

Charters Towers residents and the business community are to only use water for:

Level 2 Water Restriction – (High)

- Micro spray and drip systems fitted with timers can be used from 7pm to 8am on the odds and evens system.

- Sprinklers must not be used at any time.

- Hand-held hoses, watering cans, and buckets can be used.

Facility Closures are as follows:

- Charters Towers Water Park remains closed.

- Standpipes will remain closed this week and reassessed next week.

- Saleyards washdown bay.

Council will continue to provide updates to the community.
