Charters Towers Regional Council is pleased to announce that the draft Community Strategic Plan (the Plan) is now available for public review and feedback.
This important document outlines the long-term vision and priorities for the region, ensuring Council’s initiatives align with community aspirations and needs.
The Plan provides a clear direction for Council over the next decade, covering key areas such as infrastructure, services, economic development, and community well-being.
Mayor Liz Schmidt emphasised the importance of community involvement in shaping the final strategy.
"The Community Strategic Plan should be a reflection of the community’s vision for our future and we encourage everyone to review the draft, and provide feedback to ensure the plan truly represents their aspirations for the coming years,” said Mayor Schmidt.
The draft was developed following discussion and input received during the community engagement process, which included workshops throughout the region and a survey that sought feedback from the community.
All contributions were used to guide and develop the draft Plan to provide a comprehensive framework for Council’s strategic planning and priorities over the next 10 year period.
The draft Plan is now open for public comment until Monday, 7 April 2025 and can be viewed on Council's Have Your Say portal at haveyoursay.charterstowers.qld.gov.au/community-strategic-plan where you may also provide feedback via the online form.
Hard copies are also available at Council's Administration Centre and the Excelsior Library.
“We’re asking the community to review the draft and let us know how we went so that we can consider any changes before it is adopted by Council.
“Council is committed to ensuring the plan reflects the needs and goals of residents across the region and we need the community’s feedback,” added Mayor Schmidt.
