A new and improved Carlingford Community Centre and Library is on the horizon with the City of Parramatta calling for the community to have their say on the bigger, modern library and community centre.
The new $27.5 million three-storey facility will be situated in the heart of Carlingford and will feature a large function space, multi-purpose room, large quiet study space with extended hours and full library service.
City of Parramatta Lord Mayor Cr Martin Zaiter said providing key local infrastructure was critical to support the City’s growing communities.
“Knowledge is power and public buildings like libraries give people of all ages and backgrounds the opportunity to learn new skills and enhance personal growth,” Cr Zaiter said.
“This new library will be built for the purpose of enabling those in the north-east of our local government area to enjoy some of the same benefits as those in our CBD.
“Now is the time for the community to tell us what they think and what they want from their new library and community centre, and I look forward to their contributions.”
The new Carlingford Community Centre and Library will be located within Meriton’s ‘The Carling’ development and is close to public transport such as Parramatta Light Rail and bus services along Pennant Hills Road.
“This facility is not just for Carlingford. It will bring people together from across the entire local area, from North Rocks and beyond,” Cr Zaiter said.
The current library on Lloyds Avenue in Carlingford will remain open during construction of the new facility but will close when the new building is expected to be open in early 2028.
The $27.5 million Carlingford library has been jointly funded by City of Parramatta and developer Meriton. Consultation closes at 5pm on Tuesday 20 May 2025. For more information and to have your say, please visit the Participate Parramatta website.
