Disabling comments on our Facebook page

Regrettably, from today we will be disabling comments on our corporate Facebook page for a trial period of 6 months.

This decision has not been made lightly. Over recent months, we have seen a concerning increase in commentary from a small number of community members that has become personally targeted, hostile, and aggressive—particularly toward our Council staff. While we welcome and encourage respectful dialogue and value community feedback, the safety and wellbeing of our staff and Councillors is our priority and a legislated responsibility.

We remain committed to open and transparent communication. Community members are encouraged to continue engaging with Council through appropriate channels, including our website, customer service centres, formal consultation processes and in a respectful manner with staff and Councillors.

We would appreciate your understanding and support as we work to maintain a respectful environment where we are kind to each other even where we may not agree.
